Company officials said that this new facility is a full-service operation where the company processes shipments and directly serves customers at its new retail ServicePoint counter. And they added that the $7.3 million facility also increases shipment capacity and also enables faster processing, which results in faster pickup cutoff times for Eastern Virginia-based shippers.

The company said that the new 138,500 square-foot facility will enable DHL eCommerce to process more B2C (business-to-consumer) domestic volume, supported by around 130 staffers, for customers in Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region.

DHL observed that in recent years, SMEs have been up against a whole host of challenges, including—pandemic-driven global supply chain disruptions and labor shortages; inflation; and shifts in consumer demand—all things that have forced U.S.-based SMEs “to adapt to and navigate the changing landscape throughout the year and especially during the holidays.”

A sure sign that the holiday season getting closer each day are the respective announcements made by carriers, transportation and logistics services providers, and shippers alike, announcing their “help wanted” signs have been hung, as they look for seasonal workers.

The company said the new offering will fly six times per week between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE), with a stopover in Santiago, Chile (SCL), prior to returning to Miami (MIA). And it added that the flight is operated by DHL Aero Expreso, with a Boeing B767-300 aircraft providing a gross payload capacity of 52 tons per flight.

The DHL CVG hub currently operates on 194 acres with 67 aircraft parking gates and 6.4 million sq. ft. of ramp area, according to the company. It is a key part of the DHL U.S. network with 130 daily flights and a fleet of 60 aircraft, connecting customers from more than 220 countries and territories worldwide to every corner of the U.S.

The company said it invested $84.5 million in this new 100,000 square-foot hub, and it added that the hub establishes direct connections between 19 cities in the Southeast and various global markets, which include Europe and major global DHL hubs. And it also noted that it plans to add flight connections to Hong Kong, Mexico, the UK, and Puerto Rico.

DHL eCommerce Solutions, a subsidiary of global logistics services provider Deutsche Post DHL Group, said it has relocated its Orlando, Fla, -based distribution center into a new space that is double the size of its previous location.

The company said it invested roughly $18 million into this new facility, which will be comprised of more than 125 full-time employees. And it added that a key driver for this facility is to meet growing demand in the Kansas City region and process more domestic volume and ship throughout the U.S.

Located in central Ohio, Carhartt facility offers a peak at a modern omnichannel logistics operation.

A company spokesman told LM that this relocation was a great opportunity to move DHL’s Las Vegas operation to a significantly larger facility to handle the growing pickup and delivery volumes from customers in the greater Las Vegas area.

DHL said it invested $9.6 million into this facility, which it said is comprised of almost 56,000 square-feet of combined warehouse and office space, coupled with 60 positions for vehicles to load and unload shipments around its conveyable sort system.

Company officials said that this new facility, which represents a $5 million investment, is 60% larger than the previous one, adding that it offers up myriad customer benefits, including increasing shipment capacity and faster shipment processing, which provide earlier deliveries for customers in the Long Beach and South Bay area.
