The 2014 IBM Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) Study

The journey to value: Transforming procurement to drive the enterprise agenda.

What impact can procurement have on the success of the enterprise? How do top performing CPOs drive greater enterprise value? What programs and capabilities have the most impact on driving innovation both for procurement and for the company? What are procurement’s role models doing to stay ahead of the competitive curve?

These and other compelling questions are at the heart of the IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV) 2014 Chief procurement Officer (CPO) Study, which is based on an in-depth survey of more than 1,000 CPOs and senior procurement executives across 41 countries.

The study details the strategies of procurement role models, those procurement organizations with the most positive impact on revenue growth and profit improvement. These procurement organizations share several common attributes including:

  • A focus on improving enterprise success, not just procurement performance.
  • Deep engagement with stakeholders to understand and anticipate their needs and values.
  • Adopting progressive procurement strategies and new technologies.
