Throughout its illustrious more than 100-year history, Coca-Cola has consistently pursued premium quality.

Accordingly, Swire Coca-Cola, its bottling partner in Taiwan, recently adopted an innovative warehouse management system that uses next-generation technology to enable real-time inventory data management, increasing the efficiency of all warehouse operations.

Swire Coca-Cola replaced their previous manual operation and paper-based processes with Advantech’s warehouse management system (WMS) to increase the efficiency of warehouse operations management.

Adequate Tools are Essential for Successful Job Execution

The effectiveness of the WMS depends on the use of appropriate software and hardware in the warehouse.

“Onsite staff must keep records of stock inflows and outflows for inventory control. Initially, our WMS was compatible with standard commercial tablet PCs. However, we began using the WMS in February, when the weather was cold, rainy, and humid. This affected our PCs, causing frequent instability. Consequently, in March, we elected to replace our commercial PCs with industrial grade tablet PCs in an effort to resolve this issue.” Hong-yi Zhong, Logistics Director of Swire Coca-Cola Taiwan

Swire Coca-Cola required PCs that could not only cope with the challenging operating environment caused by the warehouse temperature and humidity but also be installed in a holder at the front of the forklifts.

The PCs needed to be able to withstand the constant vibration of a moving forklift and any potential shaking when loading and unloading stock.
