Coordinating the transport of high-security freight is something Lori Brackus’ independent Landstar agency does on a daily basis. Brackus says she first turned to Landstar’s government services team for assistance with providing an accurate quote to the customer and setting up the additional insurance needed to cover the loads. Then Brackus began searching through Landstar’s network of experienced independent owner-operators for ones with the right equipment and clearance for the hauls.

“There was some information for this load that couldn’t be publicized,” says independent Landstar Agent Mike Meyer. “Details like when it would be transported. The customer didn’t want the public knowing when it would be traveling down the road.”

A Scientific Experience

At the forefront of scientific ballooning research, the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility in Palestine, Texas called on Gwynn Logistics LLC (GWG) in Denton, Texas to coordinate the move of 30,000 pounds of scientific balloons to NASA’s Fort Sumner, New Mexico launch location.
