Implementing RedPrairie’s WMS Reduces Furniture Outlets Labor Costs by 50%

Furniture Outlets wanted to streamline processes in its 550,000-square-foot warehouse and strengthen the back end of the business to increase throughput and decrease cost associated with the supply chain.

Furniture Outlets reviewed several warehouse management systems and chose RedPrairie Warehouse Management because of the home furnishings-specific functionality and the company’s experience in the industry.

With over 20 WMS furniture installations, RedPrairie is a furniture industry solution leader. Furniture Outlets implemented the solution at the Sioux Falls facility to gain visibility into inventory, productivity efficiencies and to reduce costs in the distribution process.

“We talked to several other furniture companies to find out what solution they used and if they were happy, and RedPrairie came highly recommended,” Cranmore commented. “We attended a RedPrairie user conference and had many conversations with other furniture customers.

heir recommendation clinched the decision for us.” Since implementing RedPrairie Warehouse Management, Furniture Outlets has taken advantage of the core System-Directed module, which upon completion of each task reviews all available tasks in real time.

Then, based on priorities and locality, the system will offer the optimal task to the user, which improves picking and putaway accuracy and employee productivity. Employees can now task interleave – with the ability to put away an item and then pick an item on their way back to the dock for double the efficiency.
