Volvo Trucks Proven Fuel Efficiency - How Ploger Transportation gets 8.5 MPG!

The benefits of increased fuel efficiency are simple: you save money and reduce CO2 emissions. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Getting the most from every drop of fuel depends on factors that range from engine and transmission performance to truck cab design, the routes you take and the drivers you hire and train.

Since today’s fuel prices account for a large portion of your fleet’s total operating costs, Volvo has pioneered strategies to help you log more miles using less fuel.

Voice of the Customer
“We’re seeing 8.5 MPG from our 11-liter Volvo engines; that’s 10% better than other trucks in our fleet.” Jerry Morrow, Vice President, Ploger Transportation, Bellevue, OH.

Ploger Transportation operates out of Bellevue, Ohio, and is a regional carrier formed in 2006 with one tractor. They have since grown to 28 tractors and approximately 60 trailers. Their territory covers the eastern half of the United States.

Fuel Efficiency Innovation
There are a host of vehicle features and variables that can affect fuel efficiency. At Volvo Trucks, we’ve focused our efforts on factors that can make the biggest difference for fuel-conscious fleets.

Volvo technology is focused on three factors:

  • Powertrain
  • Aerodynamics
  • Driver Tools for Efficiency
