Put-to-Light synchs with packing solutions at Matthews

Lighting Pick, a brand of Matthews Automation Solutions (Booth 1037), highlighted a put-to-light system called LP Put that has the software capability to integrate smoothly with solutions such as auto baggers, said Joe Pelej, marketing manager, at a Tuesday press conference.

For example, on the pick side of the put wall, when a light is pushed to pick an order from a tote in the wall, the software can automatically trigger an auto bagger so that the picker can place the correct items directly into the customer’s bag. “Part of what makes it unique is this integration capability so that the operation has fast, efficient steps at the end of the process,” said Pelej.
Also being demonstrated at the booth is a warehouse execution system (WES) solution from Pyramid, another Matthews Automation Solutions’ brand. The system, called Pyramid Director WES, is well suited to meeting the high-throughput, complex order fulfillment needs of omni-channel and direct-to-consumer operations, said Pelej.

Director WES translates inputs from an operation’s host systems—including warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems—with sophisticated algorithms to receive and process orders. It then synchronizes and directs multiple, disparate automation technologies with an integrated materials handling equipment (MHE) warehouse control software (WCS). The result is orchestrated warehouse execution, said Pelej, “to drive the flow and efficiency needed for direct-to-consumer order fulfillment.”

Modex 2016 is scheduled to be held April 4-7, 2016 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Conference Center. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete Modex coverage.
