Packaging: Reusable Packaging Association (RPA) announces new executive committee

Committee includes professionals from CAPS, IFCO, TOSCA and Rehrig Pacific.

The Board of Directors of the Reusable Packaging Association (RPA, http://www.reusables.org) has elected its new Executive Committee for 2011. The RPA is a collaborative effort between manufacturers, poolers, distributors, retailers and educators to promote the environmental, safety, and economic benefits of reusable packaging. It serves as the collective voice of the industry and uses its knowledge of the members’ products and services to advance the adoption of reusable packaging and systems throughout the supply chain.

The Executive Committee is comprised of the Chairman of the Board, Vice Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer, Immediate Past Chairman and President of the RPA. Committee members are elected by the Board of Directors and serve for a term of one year.

The new appointments are:
•         Chairman of the Board: Drew Merrill, Vice President of Business Development & Strategic Planning, Container and Pooling Solutions, Inc. (CAPS)
•         Vice Chairman: Mike Hachtman, Senior Vice President Sales and Business Development, IFCO SYSTEMS N. A., INC.
•         Secretary/Treasurer: John Frey, President, TOSCA Limited
•         Immediate Past Chairman: Jon Kalin, Sales and Marketing Manager, Rehrig Pacific
•         President and CEO: Jerry Welcome

“The new executive committee is excited to enter 2011 with a larger membership base and a seasoned board ready to further RPA’s vision of promoting the economic, social, and environmental benefits of reusable packaging through industry advocacy, research, and education,” said incoming chairman Drew Merrill.

“The RPA continues to grow in its role as the preeminent organization for users and experts in reusable packaging,” added incoming vice chairman Mike Hachtman. “I am honored to work with the RPA Board and membership toward promoting the benefits of reusable packaging and expanding its use throughout the supply chain.”

The Executive Committee is responsible for carrying out the policies and programs adopted by the RPA Board of Directors. Committee members provide guidance to the President of the association, appoint committee chairmen and committee members, review budgets, and monitor the financial performance of the association on a regular basis. In addition, the Executive Committee helps develop policies, new initiatives and new programs that further the RPA’s mission.
