Packaging: Orbis introduces new grocery pallet

The new plastic grocery pallet from ORBIS is designed for better truckload utilization, increased shipping efficiency, long service life

ORBIS Corporation, a manufacturer of sustainable reusable packaging and an expert in supply chain optimization, announces the introduction of its newest reusable plastic pallet, the 40 x 48-inch Grocery Distribution Pallet. The pallet continues to deliver on ORBIS Corporation’s efforts to develop reusable plastic shipping options that increase utilization of space per truckload to deliver greater shipping efficiency and reduced costs for its customers.

“Our new Grocery Pallet is designed, like all of our products, for reuse,” said Mike Ludka, ORBIS pallet product manager. “The Grocery Pallet is made to withstand the rigors of the grocery industry, while helping companies increase their shipping efficiency. It is nestable to optimize space utilization for return trips, thus increasing shipping efficiency and profits.”

The grocery distribution pallet is specially engineered as a nestable pallet with a nest ratio that optimizes space in standard 53-foot trailers. It is designed to efficiently store, ship and handle product throughout the grocery supply chain. Its anti-skid surface holds cases and boxes in place in transit and at retail. The Grocery Pallet has contoured corners and smooth surfaces to allow for easy handling and long-lasting durability. The Grocery Pallet was developed to be smooth and non-porous to avoid absorbing moistures or odors. Its all-plastic construction ensures dimensional consistency and repeatable performance during its entire service life. Additional features and benefits include:

·      Long service life, with lower per-trip cost than alternative pallets
·      Versatile handling, with 4-way hand and fork truck entry
·      Easy-to-clean design
·      Lightweight, yet durable design
·      Designed to offer higher truckload quantity and therefore greater shipping efficiency
