National Robotics Week: Intelligrated Hosts Local Students at St. Louis Robotics Lab

Educational demonstrations and facility tours build interest in robotics engineering.

Intelligrated, a leading North American-based automated material handling solutions provider, celebrated National Robotics Week, April 5-13, with a series of educational events at its St. Louis facility to build interest in robotics engineering careers.

Intelligrated hosted students from the Jefferson College robotics program on Wednesday. The company plans to welcome additional robotics student groups and alumni from Washington University in St. Louis and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Friday. Local elementary school students from the Rockwood school district will visit in May.

Established by Congress in 2010 to raise awareness about robots and their important role in shaping the future of education, industry and the U.S. economy, National Robotics Week brings together students, educators and influencers who share a passion for robots and technology. The event recognizes robotics technology as a pillar of 21st century American innovation and seeks to inspire students of all ages to pursue careers in robotics or other science, technology, engineering or math-related fields.

Intelligrated’s National Robotics Week events feature presentations from company engineers, followed by tours of the company’s manufacturing facility and 5,050-square-foot Alvey® robotics lab. Opened in 2011, the lab hosts research and development efforts that focus on concepting and applying new robotic innovations, and offers students live demonstrations of robotics in action.

“Intelligrated has participated in National Robotics Week for three consecutive years,” said Earl Wohlrab, robotic and palletizing systems product manager. “The demand for robotics engineers continues to grow, and we strongly support educational initiatives to inspire the next generation of innovators.”
