MIQ Logistics opens up new Texas-based facility, with a focus on cross-border operations

Global third-party logistics (3PL) services provider MIQ Logistics announced earlier this month that it has opened a Laredo, Texas-based facility which it said will focus on serving shippers’ cross-border supply chain needs.

Company officials said this facility will focus on import and export management, including customs brokerage, customs clearance and duty consultancy, adding that customers can anticipate fast processing of bonded shipments, document transmissions and inspections. This facility will also offer warehouse management, transportation management, and truckload brokerage services, too, according to MIQ.

“Businesses are considering near-sourcing strategies with Mexico as a way to lower their total landed costs, while making their supply chains more nimble,” says John Carr, president and CEO of MIQ Logistics, in a statement. “Our new Laredo office will help customers achieve their goals with our local-market expertise in cross-border logistics, coupled with our comprehensive supply chain services, state-of-the-art technologies and professional experiences.”

An MIQ spokesperson told LM that the opening of this office was driven by its customers’ needs, as they tapped MIQ’s reach and exceptional value proposition by requesting an expansion of its services into the Mexico’s cross-border market.

In terms of the biggest benefits this facility will provide, the spokesperson cited
end-to-end MIQ controlled service offerings, coupled with enhanced supply chain speed and controls.

MIQ will serve 25 customers initially out of this facility, with the number expected to grow with increased demand. It will have less than 10 staffers based there and grow that number in conjunction with increased demand.
