Company Lauded for Strategic Consulting Work With IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. By FORTE Industries

FORTE, the pioneering design-build firm in the distribution sector of the supply chain, received a 2012 Green Supply Chain Award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine for its strategic consulting work with IDEXX Laboratories, Inc., the global market leader in diagnostics and information technology solutions for animal health and water and milk quality.

With the help of FORTE’s supply chain consulting, distribution center design and material handling automation services, IDEXX is experiencing dramatically improved efficiency, increasing lines picked and packed per hour by 30 percent. In addition to a six percent reduction in outbound packages, monthly freight costs have been reduced by more than $35,000 and order accuracy has improved.

Customer satisfaction has improved also, by reducing the number of packages arriving at its customers’ doors; indicating IDEXX cares about reducing its carbon footprint and improving its efficiency through environmentally sustainable initiatives.

“FORTE was asked to develop a strategic plan to reduce IDEXX’s overall costs and put in place a best-in-class pick and pack solution,” said FORTE’s founder and CEO, Gene Forte.

“By utilizing FORTE’s Automation Director, our conveyor system control software for warehouse automation, we provided IDEXX with the flexibility to consolidate orders that crossed multiple zones into one shipping container,” added Forte.

Whether it’s a green field distribution center or a facility upgrade/modernization, FORTE helps companies achieve a variety of green objectives, including energy reduction and reduction in packages shipped. In many cases, FORTE is able to reduce energy consumption by specifying conveyor systems that only run on demand when totes or cartons are present.
