FedEx’ GENCO rolls out multi—tenant healthcare warehouse offering

FedEx 3PL subsidiary GENCO recently announced a major network expansion, rolling out a multi-tenant warehousing offering for United States- and Canada-based healthcare shippers.

GENCO said that these new multi-tenant facilities are in Memphis, Tennessee, and Milton, Ontario, Canada and are comprised of 1,100,000 square feet and 400,000 square feet of space, respectively. The warehouses feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, have support to store and distribute virtually all classes of healthcare products and include advanced warehouse, labor and quality management technology. The facilities will also be properly licensed to support kitting and relabeling activities. The Memphis facility is strategically positioned near the global FedEx Super Hub, and the Milton facility is in close proximity to the FedEx Express Canada hub located at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.

Types of services provided by the GENCO healthcare logistics team at these locations include: network optimization analysis, inbound and outbound fulfillment, reverse logistics, cold chain packaging, kitting, relabeling, and a full suite of transportation management services.

“The multi-tenant warehouse solution from GENCO supports the company’s overall growth strategy and reinforces our continued commitment to delivering flexible and cost-effective supply chain solutions for the healthcare industry,” a company spokesperson told LM. “The solution enables GENCO to expand services to smaller healthcare companies that traditionally did not have access to our services solutions. These opportunities allow our customers to grow with us as their volumes grow and their strategies mature.”

The main customer benefits of these new facilities, according to the spokesperson, include: cost sharing, a flexible contract, rapid scalability, regulatory compliance supports and increased accessibility to the GENCO suite of supply chain services such as distribution, fulfillment, reverse logistics, packaging, kitting, relabeling and transportation management.

Another significant benefit cited by the company is that the multi-tenant approach aids in managing regulatory compliance and also alleviates fixed operating costs.

GENCO said the multi-tenant solution allows customers to reduce overall operating expenses by sharing fixed costs with other tenants — thereby eliminating the need for companies to invest in dedicated warehouse assets. And the spokesperson added that the company shares best practices across the customers, leverage an experienced Quality Management team, as well as a quality management systems, coupled with the solution enabling healthcare manufacturers to be more competitive and profitable by focusing less on logistics and more on research and development, marketing and sales.

The GENCO spokesperson outlined its plans for the future on the healthcare front.

“Our main priorities include building awareness of this new warehousing solution, and working with our current manufacturers to make sure their needs are met,” she said. “We are evaluating the opportunity to expand our services on a grander scale and we’re open to investing and expanding our offerings to locations that make sense for our current and prospective customers.”
