FedEx Custom Critical Launches ShipmentWatch

Adding to its expertise in proactive communications, information visibility and secure shipping, FedEx Custom Critical, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., is launching a new monitoring service called ShipmentWatch.

With ShipmentWatch, FedEx Custom Critical manages SenseAware® devices to track customers’ shipments.

The service includes programming the device to the customer’s requirements prior to the shipment, sending the device to the shipper and then proactively monitoring the shipment from pickup to delivery.

During transit FedEx Custom Critical can monitor location, temperature, light exposure, humidity and barometric pressure through the SenseAware device and web-based application. The service can be used on FedEx and non-FedEx shipments.

“ShipmentWatch brings together what we do best at FedEx Custom Critical – outstanding execution, proactive communications and providing peace of mind,” said Virginia Albanese, president and CEO of FedEx Custom Critical.

“Many customers are concerned with product integrity. Now we have a solution to inform customers when environmental factors are impacting their shipments.”

Albanese says that ShipmentWatch is a complement to the company’s secure services portfolio.

“Customers may know FedEx Custom Critical for our air and ground expedited and temperature-control services. We certainly do that, but we also provide secure shipping solutions for customers every day.

This service is another addition to the layers of security we can add to a customer’s shipment, whether it’s a FedEx shipment or even one with another carrier,” Albanese said.

All ShipmentWatch moves are monitored by the SecureCommSM Command Center at FedEx Custom Critical headquarters. SecureComm team members are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

This team provides the initial setup with the customer, monitoring during the shipment, communications if there are issues that need addressed and follow-up after the shipments if necessary.

The service is currently available within the US and to and from Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.K. There are no subscription requirements to use ShipmentWatch. For current SenseAware subscribers, FedEx Custom Critical can also monitor their existing devices or remotely program and monitor them if requested.
