Following its first decline in seven weeks last week, the average price per gallon of diesel gasoline resumed its growth path, rising 0.2 cents to $2.605 per gallon.
A week ago, the average price per gallon dipped 0.2 cents to $2.596, following a seven week span of gains during which time the average price rose a cumulative 12.6 cents.
The national average per gallon for diesel is up 16.9 cents annually.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil is currently trading at $46.57 on the New York Mercantile Exchange, which is its lowest level going back to July 24, according to a MarketWatch report. The report added that traders expect refinery shutdowns in the Gulf of Mexico region due to storm system Harvey to cause an excess in crude supplies.
