The Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported this week that the average price per gallon of diesel gasoline rose 0.6 cents to $3.258 per gallon.
This follows a 0.26-cent gain last week and a 1.9-cent jump the week before. This marks the third straight week the national diesel average has increased.
On an annual basis, the average price per gallon is up 45.6 cents.
West Texas Intermediate Crude oil is currently trading at $67.54 on the New York Mercantile Exchange, which is below last week’s average of $69.87.
The EIA’s Short-Term Energy Outlook pegs the average prices for diesel to be $3.15 and $3.11 in 2018 and 2019, respectively, with WTI a $66.21 and $64.34 for the same period.
