CSXT Intermodal Now Serving 13 More Destinations from Memphis, Tennessee

With the efficiency of double-stacked intermodal trains, led by blue and gold locomotives, CSXT Intermodal is adding a touch of gold to the Memphis blues.

Intermodal Connectivity Runs Deep
From the banks of the Mississippi River to the air, rail, marine and trucking hubs throughout western Tennessee, Memphis has earned its nickname as America's Distribution Center.

Like the mighty Mississippi’s far reaching network of tributaries, shippers in Memphis require expansive connectivity to deliver goods across the U.S. and the globe.

Memphis’ transportation options are now more diverse than ever thanks to newly introduced intermodal rail service connecting Western Tennessee to key markets including the Northeast, Midwest and New England (see below for Domestic Markets Served).

More than BBQ and Blues
Memphis is home to over 900 manufacturing firms employing over 40,000 people.

According to the Memphis Chamber of Commerce, the local manufacturing industry generated $8.8 billion in manufactured goods in 2014(1) making Made in Memphis not just a slogan, but big business.

An Alternative to Over-the-Road Trucking
Shippers in Memphis, as well as Arkansas and Mississippi, now have a new alternative to over-the-road trucking.

As highway capacity is forecasted to tighten in late 2017, shippers should look to diversify their modal portfolio now as a hedge against shrinking truck capacity.

13 New Destinations Added from Memphis, TN
Starting February 13, 2017, shippers are able to reach thirteen new destinations via intermodal rail from Memphis, Tennessee.

When analyzing their transportation network, shippers should look for opportunities to use the Memphis intermodal service to reach markets not previously served by intermodal, including Buffalo, NY; Montreal, QC (Valleyfield terminal); the Ohio Valley, Syracuse, NY; and Worcester, MA.
