Carma – Carrier Management

Are you sure you’re using the most recent information about the carriers you rely on? Are you manually organizing the critical information about each carrier? Do you have the most up-to-date data about their insurance coverage and safety record?

No matter what system you use to execute loads, when you use Carma, you will have confidence knowing that you’ve fully vetted your carriers for current insurance coverage, hazmat credentials, safety ratings and much more.

Beyond mere data management, Carma manages the processes to collect data, approve carriers, analyze carriers’ capabilities, and create alerts when conditions require your attention. The workflow process is configurable too. You can implement and modify your processes as the business grows. Bottom line – Carma automates the details of carrier data management so you can focus on running your business.

  • Centrally manage a large carrier database with minimal resources

  • Interactively allow carrier self-service updating

  • Easily configure and create detailed carrier reports

  • Save required carrier documentation securely in a central location

  • Control carrier status in your TMS so carrier selection is based on audited credentials

Carma for Shippers
Shippers can take advantage of easily accessible data about carriers. With consolidated data, you can easily create reports and alerts, even if you use hundreds of companies for moving freight. For example, you can create a report of all your carriers whose insurance is scheduled to expire in the next 30 days. Or, show all carriers with specialized equipment available.

You can use the information in your transportation planning process too. With accurate information about each carrier’s locations, equipment, and preferred lanes, the MercuryGate TMS will have everything it needs to suggest the best carrier for every load you ship. Adding new carriers is quick and easy. Carma steps you through the process and can integrate with outside data sources to load data and keep it current over time.

Carma for Logistics Service Providers
Use Carma for vetting and approving carriers for your brokerage or freight management operations. You can set up a process and define user roles for collecting and evaluating information before releasing carriers to be included in your transportation planning processes. For example, your workflow might require proof of insurance, at least one lane defined, information about equipment, and complete contact information before the carrier’s information can be made available to your TMS.

If you currently spend a lot of time collecting and organizing information about carriers you’ll especially appreciate Carma. Carriers can share the burden of keeping their information current. They’ll have a web portal for entering critical information about their insurance, equipment, contacts, preferred lanes and much more. If you already have some data in a spreadsheet or another application you can easily load it directly to Carma. You can even interface with external systems like RMIS to consolidate carrier information in Carma. In any case, you’ll spend less time collecting data and more time using it.

The Carma Interface
The Carma interface uses a file folder metaphor to keep data organized and easily available. On the ‘Summary’ tab, you can see a snapshot of every category of information pertaining to that carrier. There are color codes to let you know at a glance where more information is needed and where it’s complete. Detail information is organized by subject area is just a mouse click away.
