Amazon Policy Director, Former DOT Secretary Added to Jump Start 2018 Lineup

Jump Start facilitates deeper knowledge and collaboration between logistics and transportation professionals from carrier, shipper, logistics service provider and technology verticals.

Amazon’s director of transportation public policy, Blair Anderson, and former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation James Burnley have been added to the lineup of knowledge experts, supply chain leaders and transportation analysts speaking at Jump Start 2018.

Anderson and Burnley will join regulatory advisor Randy Mullett in conversation during the “Transportation in the New Presidential Era” panel on the final day of Jump Start 2018.

Held January 22-24 at the Loews Hotel in Midtown Atlanta, Jump Start 2018 will bring together more than 40 speakers for 20 engaging, targeted sessions that examine topics that will impact the transportation marketplace in the coming year.

Top-tier presenters will discuss nearly every aspect of today’s modern supply chain in forward-thinking sessions.

Burnley is a partner in the Washington, D.C.-based law firm Venable LLP, where he focuses on transportation regulation and policy. He previously served in the Department of Transportation, ending his time at the department with a three-year tenure as secretary.

Anderson has served as the transportation policy expert for Amazon since February. Prior to his Amazon appointment, he worked as undersecretary for transportation policy at the DOT.

Additional speakers slated to attend Jump Start include Mike Leaser, director of global logistics and transportation at Moen; Beth Whited, executive vice president and CMO at Union Pacific Railroad; and Monica Wooden, CEO of MercuryGate International. Jump Start 2018 will also include unrivaled networking opportunities, such as an opening-night reception at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the brand new home of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United.

“Hearing Blair and James discuss the intricacies of the regulatory environment and give their assessments about 2018 will be invaluable,” said Andrew Slusher, SMC³’s CEO and president. “This exceptional panel only underscores the incredible lineup of knowledge experts, supply chain leaders and industry analysts we’ve assembled for Jump Start 2018.”
